Customer Search window

Purpose
Use this window to search for a customer using a variety of search criteria.
To access this window
Complete one of the following to access this window.
- On the Modules menu, point to Customer and click Customer Search.
- Use the keyboard shortcut Alt, M, C, u.
- On the Pick Customer window, click Adv Search.

Item descriptions
Item | Description |
---|---|
Check# |
Enter a full check number to search for customers who've written a check with that number. You must enter the full number. Enter a partial number will not find the matching customer. |
Student | Enter a full or partial student name to search for customers matching that name. |
Credit Card |
Enter the last 4 digits of a credit card number to search for customers who have credit cards on file with those same 4 digits. You must enter all 4 digits. Entering a partial number will not find the matching customer. |
DL Number |
Enter a driver's license number to search for the customer matching that number. You must enter the complete driver's license number. Entering a partial number will not find the matching customer. |
Customer Name | Enter a full or partial customer name to search for customers matching that name. |
Enter an email address to search for customers associated with that email address. You must enter the full email address as it is entered on the customer record. Entering a partial address will not find the matching customer. |

City |
Enter a full city name to search for customers who have addresses in that city. You must enter the full city name. Entering a partial or abbreviated city name will not find matching customers. For example, you must enter Dubuque rather than or Dbq. |
Address |
Enter a full street address (number and street) to search for customers matching that address. You must enter the full street address exactly as it appears in the customer record. For example, if the customer record abbreviates avenue as av, you must enter av in this box. Entering ave, or a partial address, will not find the matching customer. |

Select to enter an exact or partial serial number and then enter that serial number to search for customers associated with it. |
PO Number |
Enter a purchase order number to search for customers associated with that number. You must enter the full purchase order number. Entering a partial number will not find the matching customer. |
Web/eBay Order |
Enter a web or eBay order number to search for customers associated with that number. You must enter the full order number. Entering a partial number will not find the matching customer. |
E-commerce ID |
Enter an eBay or active-e customer ID number to search for customers associated with that number. You must enter the full ID number. Entering a partial number will not find the matching customer. |
Social Security | Enter a full social security number (with hyphens) or the last 4 digits of a social security number to search for customers associated with that number. |
Phone Number |
Enter a phone number to search for customers associated with that number. You must enter the full phone number from the customer record. Entering a partial phone number will not find the matching customer. |
Legacy Acct# |
Enter a legacy account number to search for customers associated with that number. You must enter the full account number. Enter a partial number will not find the matching customer. |
Loyalty # |
Enter a loyalty program number to search for customers associated with that number. You must enter the full loyalty number. Entering a partial loyalty number will not find the matching customer. |
Reference # |
Enter a reference (invoice) number to search for customers associated with that number. You must enter a full number. Entering a partial reference number will not find matching customers. |
Order # |
Enter an order number to search for customers associated with that number. You must enter a full number. Entering a partial order number will not find matching customers. |
Attention Field |
Enter an Attn name to search for customers associated with that name or value. You must enter the full value of the Attn box on the customer record. Enter a partial value will not find the matching customer. |
grid columns A right angle bracket (>) identifies the column currently used to sort the grid. The grid may be sorted by all columns in bold type. Not all columns display at all times; those that do depend on your search criteria. |

Date |
Displays the date of the reference (invoice) number you searched for. |
Ref# |
Displays the reference (invoice) number you searched for. |
Acct# |
Displays the account number of the customer. |
Sub |
Displays the sub-account number of the student(s) matching the search criteria. For example, if the main account number is 100, the sub-account number might be 100-1 and the value in this column is 1. |
Student |
Displays the name of the student(s) matching your search criteria. |
Name |
Displays the name of the customer(s) matching your search criteria. |
Invoice Type or Type |
Displays the type of information used to search for a customer. For example, if you searched on a city name, this column displays City. |
Amt |
Displays the balance of the reference (invoice) number you searched for. |
Item | Description |
---|---|
OK | Closes the window and populates the next window with the selected customer's information. This button only displays if you accessed this window from an Adv Search button. |
Exit | Closes the window. |
